How the Gold Calculator Works

Our gold calculator uses real-time spot prices from global commodity markets to estimate the value of your gold. The calculation considers three key factors: the current gold spot price, your item's weight, and its purity level (karat).

Gold purity is measured in karats, with 24K being pure gold (99.9% gold content). Common jewelry karats include 10K (41.7% gold), 14K (58.3% gold), 18K (75% gold), and 22K (91.7% gold). The calculator automatically adjusts the value based on the actual gold content.

The result represents the raw metal value—also known as melt value—of your gold at current market prices. Actual resale prices may vary based on buyer margins, craftsmanship, brand value, and market conditions.

Example: Calculating 14K Gold Ring Value

Scenario: You have a 14K gold ring weighing 8 grams and want to know its current gold value.
1Enter 8 in the weight field and select 'Gram'
2Select 14K purity (58.3% gold content)
3The calculator multiplies: 8g × 0.583 × current spot price
4Result displays your gold's estimated market value
Result: An 8-gram 14K gold ring contains about 4.66 grams (0.15 troy oz) of pure gold. Multiply that by the live gold spot price shown above to get its current melt value.
